A Look Back on 2025
Micah, Randi, and Ryan Edition
Hi friends and family! For a few years now, it’s been our tradition to (over)share a wrap up of the year with our loved ones, but it’s also something I really look forward to… almost like a journal entry reflection of the time. It’s fun to pull photos, remember what we did, talk about our highlights (and lowlights), and laugh together.
This year definitely kept us on our toes, as it always does with a toddler, and we hope yours has been nothing but an absolute delight. Wishing you and yours all the very best for 2026.
We kicked things off in January with an Ohio trip that was… let’s call it “memorable.” We all got sick and there was no sleep had for weeks - it was a tough trip. However, it was Ryan’s first time seeing and playing in the snow, which made it feel magical and she still talks about it. Despite four COVID infections between the three of us, the time spent with family is always precious, and we were grateful for that.
In the summer, we came back to Ohio to do it right… and we really did. Pool days and jumping in the lake (Ryan is a total fish and fearless!), warm mornings and loud evenings with family often by the fire, plates full of delicious food (especially corn on the cob), and Luke’s 40th birthday… which means cake, family, and Ryan’s favorite song (a perfect trifecta). There were farm animals and golf cart rides, Ryan even got to stay up late one night for the fireworks, sun soaked afternoons playing in the hose, museum days and shopping with her cousins, and bare feet running through soft Ohio grass. It felt golden and full and fun … what can only be described as a true Ohio comeback.
I started a new job in August and am really happy with how everything is going. I’m designing performance activewear for athletes. I’m gearing up for several international trips coming up and the brand will launch in a few months. Outside of work, I’m usually running around after Ryan, outdoors, at the beach, at a park, spending time with our family and friends, just keeping moving and trying to soak up every minute.
Micah is doing great and staying busy with work and Ryan. With me back at work full time, he’s watching her when she’s not in school, and he’s doing such an amazing job, even though it’s not easy (she always “wants mama”). He is our rock and keeps this family fed and in clean clothing. We love our “dada” and as Ryan says “he’s a nice guy!”
For work, Micah has been shooting a lot lately for LA based golf brand Malbon, including some fun trips and even photographing Jason Day, along with plenty of local shoots. He also won a poker tournament, which still feels pretty legendary. When he’s not working, he’s usually skating with Ryan, keeping up with me, and taking photos wherever we are.
Ryan had a huge year. She turned two and celebrated with a beach party, got all her teeth (ouch), and started “school”… which was equal parts exciting and very weird for us because she suddenly feels so grown up. She has made it very clear that “I not a baby, I a big kid.”
She fully thrived during Halloween with a whole lineup of costumes and then went deep into Christmas mode, very excited about Santa and all the magic that comes with it.
She loves school and her “aunties,” she is getting really good at riding her scooter, and got her first bike. She’s incredibly social and honestly might have more friends than we do. Though, we also said some hard goodbyes this year when Octavia and Ralfie moved away.
All in all, she is growing so much and so fast. She tells stories, has a huge imagination, and is always dancing and singing. She loves cats, wearing dresses, and wants to be a ballerina. She calls herself “Ryan Margot” and proudly tells everyone she’s two while holding up two fingers, which took a while to master and she is very proud of it. She is funny, loud, fearless, and a total mama’s girl (sorry dad, your time will come).
Otherwise, this year we kept the momentum going. Luke came to visit with friends and they headed to Joshua Tree. Micah’s parents came out and we spent our time eating good food and swimming at their AirBnb. We took a trip to Las Vegas to meet up with my parents, explored Henderson, and swam a lot there too. I guess our theme is sunshine and water.
We loved hosting Friendsgiving at our house and soaking up time with friends and family, plus all the delicious food everyone brought.
We also finally made it to Florida (sorry it took so long, Aunt Susie!) to see the Stilwells. There was lots of playing, golf cart rides, opening presents, making cookies, seeing manatees, and so much more. We had such a good time, even despite getting majorly sick again and spending Christmas in the ER. Sorry, family.
All in all, this year was full! It was messy, joyful, exhausting, exciting, and unforgettable. We’ve headed into the new year grateful for our people, our health (finally/mostly), and all the memories we made along the way.
Sending lots of love and wishing you a happy, healthy New Year. 💛
With love,
Randi, Ryan, and Micah
